Spring Mobile Acquires Wireless4U; Strengthening Fastest Growing AT&T Wireless Operator’s Presence in the Connecticut Market

Latest acquisition represents company’s fourth deal completed so far in 2015, adding 22 stores to its portfolio

Spring mobile’s retail footprint now spans across 26 states

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – (February 28, 2015) – Spring Mobile, a Utah-based retailer of AT&T wireless phones and services and a wholly-owned subsidiary of GameStop Corporation, announced today that it is expanding its services in the Connecticut market with the acquisition of the privately owned cell phone chain Wireless4U. The acquisition includes three stores that will become part of the company’s portfolio of retail locations on March 1. 

“As part of our growth strategy, we are rapidly expanding our national footprint to provide high-quality, affordable AT&T wireless services to people in underserved markets,” said Jason Ellis, senior vice president of Technology Brands for GameStop. “Our goal is to provide customers with choice, value and convenience across a range of superior AT&T wireless voice and data services.” 

According to Ellis, Spring Mobile will continue seeking new opportunities to increase its nationwide footprint. Since 2013, with the backing of GameStop, Spring Mobile has pursued aggressive expansion efforts. Today’s announcement represents Spring Mobile’s fourth acquisition completed so far in 2015. The company began the year by acquiring 10 stores from Mobile King, an East Coast and Indiana-based AT&T wireless dealer. Following that, Spring Mobile purchased National Telecom, adding two more stores to the Spring Mobile network. On January 8, the company acquired Illinois-based Clearchoice Mobility, giving it seven new stores across Illinois. 

During 2014, the company acquired 140 stores and opened 72 new locations of its own. Spring Mobile is one of the nation’s fastest growing AT&T wireless operators with 361 AT&T branded stores.
